Sustainability

Our beekeepers look after our 300 million+ bees & 10,000+ hives to ensure that we create a sustainable and ethically responsible product.

We work together to ensures bee health and wellbeing by investing in bee breeding programmes of queen bees for the ongoing generation of bees to enable both future honey production and pollination of other food sources.

Harvested in clean, green, Non-GMO New Zealand nature ensures honey purity: we work with New Zealand nature. Bee hives are placed in throughout New Zealand, close to our rural Manuka plantations.

We have planted over 1 million Manuka seedlings to ensure Manuka supply for the future. We’re working on planting more trees and turning marginal farmland areas into established Manuka forest.

Nature has always been at the heart of the Manuka Doctor brand. As the company’s bees thrive in the clean green countryside of New Zealand, our brand is now taking sustainability to the next level with environmentally friendly packaging on three levels.

rPET POTS

Our honey packaging is made using rPET plastic from 100% recycled materials. An important advantage of using rPET for transporting our pots from New Zealand is that they are light, unbreakable and have a better environmental balance than glass.

WOOD BASED LABEL

A pioneering wood based material, certified by ISCC, uses residues of the pulping process from sustainably managed forests. This means the labels used on Manuka Doctor’s skincare range are produced using renewable resources, which replace an equivalent amount of fossil fuel in the production process. All this means increased sustainability and 100 per cent recyclability.

NO PLASTIC WRAPS OR FOIL

And finally, with Manuka Doctor’s packaging you will also find no plastic wrapping to seal the boxes and no gold or silver foil which some local authorities will not recycle. All cardboard is FSC grade which helps take care of forests and the people and wildlife who call them home.

We are proud to be the first and only honey company globally to carry the “R.A.W” Certification mark. R.A.W. certification guarantees best practices for harvesting and producing honey and ensures minimal processing throughout the supply chain.

BeeingKind

Our enduring investment into our communities to support people in need and in particular the future generation of kids.
